The Algonquin Wilderness Experience 2017
The Algonquin Wilderness Experience (AWE) is an event that we have traditionally done every other summer here at NYM. It is for students who have COMPLETED the 9th-12th grade by the time of the trip.
The trip itself is a full week (Sun-Sat) of camping, canoeing, hiking and "roughing it" in the Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. This experience is physically rigorous, spiritually enriching and well-loved by all the students who have braved it in the past. Leaders take students through a series of lakes and trails in the park with no electricity or modern conveniences, all while carrying the supplies and food to sustain the group in backpacks on their backs. This is not for the faint of heart!
We will be going on the AWE August 6-12, 2017, and we can't wait!
As a parent, you need to know that space is VERY limited, and LOTS of details are available if you're curious (and we're sure you have lots of questions! We get that).
Should your student be accepted to attend, we would provide comprehensive packing lists, have multiple Q&A sessions in advance, and provide training for students.
There are only 21 slots available on this trip, and they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please click the link below for more information - the deadline for registration is March 22nd, and the total event cost is $350.
